Founded 1974 – Our progress
Our progress over the last 2-3 years has been very encouraging, due mainly to the success of our Tuesday roll up afternoons and a subsequent 20% increase in new members. All clubs nationally now stipulate a mixed membership and mixed friendlies are much in demand and easier to administrate. Mainly, these are played on mid week afternoons, with the occasional weekend matches. We also enjoy the competitive aspect with local evening league team games, national & county plus the singles games to suit the respective player strengths. So there is plenty available to involve yourself with. So what is going to be different this coming season?
Well, we have been busy working towards EBA compliance standards and have successfully applied to Sport England for funding to support our ambitions. This will be developed throughout the coming season by our newly appointed Coaching Co-ordinator, Derek Reader. We have also increased our attempts to secure a larger profile in the community and our new Publicity Officer, Alan Bailey, is hard at work preparing matter to present to our local schools and media publications. This website is being refreshed under the management of our newly appointed Website Manager, Gina Isaac. Everyone is encouraged to ‘have a look’ at our mobile and user friendly site, You may be viewing it with modern devices, such as iPads, most Tablets and other Android powered ‘smartphones’, as well as the existing technologies such as desktop and laptop PCs and hopefully, you will find it easy to navigate, whatever you are viewing it on.
Now how can you all help?
All players are encouraged to visit the shed where on display, will be the monthly availability chart, which it is essential you complete to assist with team selections that will be subsequently displayed on the noticeboard.
Our club domestic competitions are under the control of Ray Swinnerton and are open to everyone. These will run throughout the season April to September, when the club comes together to recognise the achievements of the respective winners, at its’ Presentation Evening, to be held this year on Saturday November 18th at The Sandy Village Hall. Full details of our ongoing activities and events can be found on this website.
We conclude our year with our AGM on Sunday November 26th – same venue.
Enjoy your bowling year.
